This is a broad request. I'm compiling a list of contemporary poets from the South or poets that have moved to the South and adopted it as a home.

chris tonelli just relocated to raliegh, nc. he also went to high school, college, and his first round of grad school there.

jon leon and tom lisk are also in raleigh.

ken rumble is in greensboro, nc, and brian howe is in i think richmond, va

sam starkweather grew up in pittsboro, nc.

that's all i can think of right now.

Chris Vitiello, Patrick Herron, Alan May, Jake Berry, Thomas Rabbitt, Paul Guest, Robin Behn, Jillian Weise, Lara Glenum, Ken Rumble drives in the NASCAR series, David Need, Joseph Donahue, Ted Pope, Terrance Hayes, the Lord Jesus, but of all these, Tim Earley is the very, very best.

Brian Brown of Fitzgerald GA. No book, but publishing lots in journals. Recent ones are Town Creek Poetry, Keyhole, Santa Clara Review, Roanoke Review, Vain, Caveat Lector, Velvet Mafia, SWELL, and Powhatan Review.
